What are Survey Efforts?

A Survey Effort consists of historic places that are related by a geographic area or a theme. A group of users can organize a survey effort to contribute to a better understanding of a neighborhood, group, or important trend in Austin's history. For instance, the East Cesar Chavez survey effort consists of historic places that are being surveyed by residents who are exploring the possibility of organizing a local historic district.

The African American History and Mexican American History survey efforts can be used by users engaged in conducting research and surveys based on the histories of these communities. A 20-century Modern Design survey effort allows users interested in modernism to add and label historic places under this survey effort.

A historic place can belong to more than one Survey Effort.
